Last Sunday

On Sunday everyone in both the worship service and in small group was urged to plan a day of Sabbath this week. A day to rest FROM some things and a day to rest TOWARD God. Here are some ideas to consider replacing with rest. Please consider picking out one particular thing to focus on resting from on your Sabbath day:

  • Work

  • Physical exhaustion

  • Hurriedness

  • Multitasking

  • Competitiveness

  • Worry

  • Decision making

  • Catching up on errands

  • Talking

  • Technology and machines (cell phones, TV, computers, etc.)

The list is in Peter Scazzero’s book, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality. He follows it by saying, that “when we stop and rest, we respect our humanity and the image of God in us.”
